Full Time 35 – 40 hr/wk (Finish work by 9:00 pm at the latest! 7:30 pm on other days!!)

$24 – 26/hr (includes wages & tips)


Tired of working long, late hours in a room with no windows for little to no thanks?! Do you have more food ideas than time? Are you looking for a bistro owned and operated by people that make and love craft beer paired with delicious food, and who will appreciate your contribution? We started Category 12 out of our passion for beer and our passion for food quickly followed with the addition of our food lab.

We are looking for a charismatic person to add to our cooking team! You’ll be working under the guidance of our chef, however, as in all facets of our brewery, your creative input is welcomed and expected!

Category 12 is growing! Situated on the Saanich Peninsula, we opened our doors just over nine years ago and now have a lounge and bistro! We left our careers behind to open Category 12 and unleash our creativity on the world while proudly blending it with our scientific roots. We have a modern, bright and inviting work environment with a great on-site lounge now expanded and with a kitchen. We brew beers that are hard to make and love truly unique flavour experiences that are both Belgian and West Coast inspired. We have a deep fascination with the science and art of all things fermented and we are obsessed with all the geeky details (microbes and all!). Seven years in, we still feel like we are still just beginning to flex our creative muscles with new ideas constantly in development. We’re a tight-knit family of friendly, passionate people that thrive on taking the beer we brew and food we make seriously but not ourselves. We enjoy supporting each other, sharing our beer, food (and story) with the public and getting the job done every day.

You are:

  • Customer focused (you like making what people want to buy)
  • Knowledgeable with most culinary techniques & eager to learn
  • Able to take direction, criticism and praise from customers and management
  • Able to work independently
  • Keenly able to identify and prioritize details that matter
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about food & craft beer

You have:

  • Food Safe certification is required
  • 6 months to 1 year of cooking experience
  • Experience in highly orchestrated work environments is a plus
